According to the Associated Press, Jim Boeheim will be an assistant for Team USA under head coach Mike Krzyzewski. The assumption is Boeheim will help coach the team for this year's 2014 World Cup of Basketball and onto the next Olympics -- 2016 in Rio.
The news comes nearly a month after Krzyzewski agreed to return as head coach of Team USA. Originally, Coach K was not going to return has head coach after helping lead the squad to two straight gold medals. However, after negotiating a brand new contract with Team USA over the Spring, Coach K decided to return.
With Krzyzewski on board, Boeheim, a good friend of Coach K and assistant on the last two Olympic teams, was a shoo-in to re-join his coaching staff, if he wanted the job. Tom Thibodeau and Monty Williams are also expected to join the staff.
The rest of the coaching staff has yet to be filled out. Team USA basketball begins preparations for the Olympics at the World Cup of Basketball, which begins Aug. 30 in Spain.
