Not going to SU/Uconn? You Can Still Show Your Flat Top Swag

You don’t have to be at the Dome to flat top your dome. If you’re watching from home or at the bar, print out high top fades for your friends, family, or fellow bar patrons and post a pic.

Let’s show Nerlens Noel how far Cuse Nation really reaches. Here's a few early entries...

Why Syracuse will be in the ACC in 2012

I’m sure we would like to get moving during the 2012 season, but we all know it comes down to the financials. Below I've run the numbers and it just makes sense to follow WVU and leave this year:

What True Student Fans Look Like & Nunes Pre-Game Social

Before my trip down memory lane...

This is THE game. No, not the toughest game of the year, or full of the most hate like Gtown...rather this is the game everyone has been looking forward to since the schedule came out.

Many of us from across the fruited plain will be there.

Felonious Phunk and I are trying something new: We will be at Acropolis on MARSHALL ST when they open at 11am tomorrow. We'll get a solid hour of bad food and good drink in us before forging through the predicted uber-cold temps [the way it should be]. Feel free to join us!

--------

On a larger level, there's a nifty little reunion going on as well. From 2002-04 we were part of a group of fans collectively known as "The Craig Nasties". The name will make sense if you think about it long enough...

Some of us haven't even seen each other since 04-05. We're looking forward to it. We pride ourselves on being the ORIGINAL Front Row...waiting for hours in the freezing cold starting the year the student section finally went general admission (the Championship year, as it was). After us, the torch got passed to guys like Menotti & Bobby, and then slowly Otto's Army grew into what it is today...a group of sadists sleeping on 15 degree concrete for 7 days.

For this trip down memory lane, here's some pictures detailing what a REAL Front Row should look like.

I'm looking so forward to this weekend, hope it's good for all. God, I love the 'Cuse.

GO ORANGEMENS!

This is what Gottlieb means by 'vile'. You should be proud to wear that label:

This "Like a Boss Moment" brought to you by Fabricio Melo

#FabMeloFacts- The name "Fabricio" is Portuguese, but has its roots in an old Latin word meaning, "He who swats weak shots and ignites fast breaks".

Louisville Monday night

I know Uconn is up next but I just purchased a ticket for the game @ Louisville Monday night and I am very excited. Althought that excitement was immediatly subdued once I found I purchased a student section ticket. Is anyone here going to the game? Going out before? Know much about Louisville? I'll be traveling down from Cincinnati and should arrive an hour or two before tipoff.

I went to the game at Cincinnati but sat up in the nosebleeds without any issues. Not sure about this one.

Look-ee what I found

Not only is Gottlieb a d-bag and a moron, but now an official spokesperson for Rogaine. Do with this what you will.

Memphis to the rescue

Heard the rumors earlier today but the Chicago Trib is now reporting that Memphis has a press conference scheduled for tomorrow to announce that they are joining the Big East for all sports in 2013-14. A terrible academic institution whose basketball glory days are probably way behind them and a football team that was 2-10 playing in Conference USA certainly makes for a winning combo and a perfect addition to the new Big East. Well done Big East, well done.

The Three or The D?

With each week that goes by in NCAA basketball, I find myself reading an editorial with yet another reason why the Syracuse Orange can't make it to the final four. First, it was the inability to play defense in the half-court. Then, it was the absence of Melo. Now, I'm hearing more and more about the problems for Syracuse to make 3-pointers.

I'm not blind or deaf to all-things negative about Syracuse, like some of the Orange fans I've come across. To think we are infallable is a fail in itself. However, I'm not sure the 3-point issue is as big as it's being made out to be. Are we bad from behind the arc as of late? Yes. Are there worse teams than SU from 3-point land? Absolutely. In fact, one of them (Ohio St.) is a strong contender for the Final Four as well. So...how is Syracuse winning games and staying in the top five, while continuing to miss baskets from outside? Perhaps it's because they aren't allowing anyone else to make 3-pointers either.

The Florida Gators are arguably the best 3-point shooting team in the NCAA. Averaging 40% from deep on the season, the Gators were held to 9-26 against the Orange (34%). The number of three's to go down were more than I would like, but the Gators made some wildly deep shots in that game. Why? Because those were the only buckets the Orange would give them.

The ability for Syracuse to flex the zone and close-out on guards is helping to combat their own shooting woes from deep. In addition, forcing the opponent into ill-advised 3-point attempts will continue to aid the fast break, allowing the Orange to do what they do best; run in transition and score before the opposing defense can set up.

Syracuse does have the talent to make the deep ball. They're going through a bit of a slump from long-range, but if a team can "slump" and still win by 25, then I'll take that "slump" any day of the week.

It's scary to think what the scores would look like, should the Orange get hot from beyond the arc. However, until then, if we can't make the 3-pointers, then neither will anyone else.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bad Press

I have written posts before about how Gottlieb and Parrish love reminding us that SU games at MSG are in fact home games and therefore don't count. I have also written diatribes while stroking out over how Dana O'Neil wasn't sold on the team's talent because we didn't play a true road game until NC State, and for whatever reason if we were to win (we did) that wouldn't really count either. Ron Morris. Davis says we're a violent fan base. Georgetown won't sell us tickets. The overall sentiment within the Big East is that we are traitors.

I'm okay with this and here's why:
