The thought of a Syracuse Orange tight end winning the Mackey Award the same year John Mackey passes away has a real nice ring to it.

Inside Lacrosse has unveiled the lineups for the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic and the Konica Minolta Big City Classic and while the Syracuse Orange will be skipping the former, they will be facing off against a familiar opponent in the latter.

And so, with our victory over Bye Week behind us, we move on to play the hated West Virginia Mountaineers.

Even during the bye week, the Syracuse Orange can't make it easy for us.

Before the madness Friday, the Syracuse Orange basketball team gathered for their media day where expectations were high, hope was in the air and we got our first look at what this 22-man roster (including walk-ons) looks like on the floor.

"This is the most incredible Midnight Madness ever. In history,’’ Wallace said. "We’ve got 28,000 at Midnight Madness. We’ve got all the great alumni here. The greatest players and all the legends. The current players. Coach. It’s an epic event.’’

So here it is. The 2011-2012 season officially gets underway tonight with Midnight Madness.It's all sold out so I hope you're not just planning on showing up. Unless you're Carmelo, in which case I think you'll be fine.

Carmelo Anthony and his appearance at the Syracuse Orange Midnight Madness event tonight remains up in the air. I'm beginning to think he's going to make it since he's apparently chosen this week to promote everything he can get his well-gripping hands on.
