The Syracuse Orange (16-11, 8-6) have lost two straight following a five-game winning streak. It sure would be nice to get back to victories and such. Hopefully the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (15-11, 6-7) will oblige when SU heads down to Atlanta on Sunday (HINT HINT, GT).
What’s going to happen when the Orange and the Yellow Jackets face off at 6:30 p.m. ET this Sunday? The TNIAAM staff takes some guesses:
Ari Gilberg
Georgia Tech 68, Syracuse 65
I truly want to pick Syracuse to win this game – and I believe they can – however, I’m going with the Yellow Jackets in this one. Georgia Tech is a much better team than its 15-11 record, as the Yellow Jackets own wins over North Carolina, Florida State and Notre Dame. In addition, Georgia Tech will be playing this one at home (before traveling to the Carrier Dome in two weeks) where they own a 13-3 record. Syracuse has struggled on the road all season long, and those struggles will continue on Sunday.
Andrew Godnick
Syracuse 74, Georgia Tech 59
The Orange went through a heartbreaker against Louisville but these final 4 games mean more than one nail-biting loss. The Orange have not been impressive on the road but if the Orange handle these last 4 games as they should then a bid to March will be nearly guaranteed. Andrew White III won't go 2-14 from deep this time-at least we hope.
James Szuba
Syracuse 70, Georgia Tech 66
Syracuse will squeak out a much needed win on the road against a bubble team, but it won't come without discord. Georgia Tech is a tough defensive team and SU has struggled out the road but the Orange are a better offensive team. Syracuse wins simply by out scoring its opponent on Sunday.
Ben Sigel
Syracuse 73, Georgia Tech 67
Syracuse needs a win badly on Sunday, and I think they get it. Tyus Battle had some time to rest and recover from his cold, while the Orange also had extra time to prepare for Georgia Tech. SU gets back on track.
John Cassillo
Syracuse 72, Georgia Tech 68
This team likes nail-biters on the road, and this should be another one. Tech isn’t proficient from three, which is a plus. But if Ben Lammers is at full strength, his size in the middle could create some problems for a Syracuse team that’s been beaten up down low lately. Don’t expect Andrew White to shoot as poorly as he did last game, either. But SU can’t rely on more miracle shots to win this. They grab a lead with 10 minutes to play, then hold on for dear life.
What about you?
