Last year, Syracuse Orange women's lacrosse won the ACC Tournament and returned to the Final Four. This year, they look to go even further. Picked to win the ACC again, the team has now picked it's captains that will lead them there.
Erica Bodt, Taylor Gait, Ella Thorpe, Kayla Treanor and Mallory Vehar will represent the team as it's captains in the 2016 season.
Treanor returns as a captain following a season in which she led the team in scoring and finished as a Tewaaraton Award finalist. She was also ACC Tournament MVP and was named Attacker of the Year by multiple outlets.
Gait scored 27 goals and was named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team, scoring six goals in SU's tournament run.
Bodt scored 22 goals, 11 caused turnovers, and recorded a point in 16 of 24 games. Thorpe tied her career high in goals and ground balls last season and was a member of the 2015 Spring Athletic Director's Honor Roll. Vehar anchored the Orange defense in 2015 and led Syracuse in caused turnovers with 27.
Treanor and Vehar have also been named to the preseason All-ACC Team along with Halle Majorana.
No. 3 Syracuse opens the 2016 season on Sunday, February 14 when they host No. 13 Loyola at noon in the Carrier Dome.
