The very first verbal commitment to the Syracuse Orange Class of 2015, Tyrone Perkins stuck with us the whole way through and made it official today. The NY running back will have a real chance to compete in the backfield in the coming years if he can recover from an unfortunate torn ACL injury. Let's get to know him.

Ben's Breakdown:
Being the first commit in a class is never easy, but Perkins' commitment really sent the Orange on a ridiculous two month span of commitments. Unfortunately for him, he missed his entire senior season with an ACL tear. The Orange staff told him they would be honoring his commitment, and despite a potential greyshirt, they decided to bring him in in the 2015 class since they had the space available.
Before his injury, Perkins was competition with Jordan Fredericks for the best running back in New York State. Unfortunately, his torn ACL didn't let that competition play out. Hopefully we are able to see what exactly Tyrone is capable of on the hill, as injuries of that stature are hard to recover from. I'd expect a redshirt year from Perkins this season.
