Alright folks, this isn't Syracuse University related, but it is Syracuse related. As you may have noticed from some of my posts, I'm a bit of a footie fan. You may have also noticed that there's a little tournament going on this year during the summer. It's called the World Cup. Kind of a big deal. Basically the world stops for a few weeks in June and July and watches soccer.
The US is in the Group of Death. One of the tournament favorites in Germany, arguably the best player in the world in Christiano Ronaldo playing for Portugal and our nemesis from the past two Cups in Ghana. Nicely this year, the group is considered such a difficult one due to the presence of the United States.
I'm putting out an open invite. Any and all fans in the Syracuse area should come on down to Small Plates in Armory Square during the matches, including the Send-Off Series games prior to the start of the event. It's the current home of the Syracuse Chapter of the American Outlaws, the US Soccer Supporters Group. Casual or hardcore fan, or hell, even if you're not sure on the sport, I can pretty well guarantee that you'll have a good time watching the matches with a bunch of US fans. There may even be a free beer in it for you.
Come on down to watch the games, have a beer and cheer on the US.
