With the Pats loss there will be no former Orange in the Super Bowl next Sunday at MetLife Stadium (Syracuse’s 2nd Home) when the Denver Broncos face the Seattle Seahawks. So the question for Syracuse fans remains who should we root for in Super Bowl XLVIII? Let’s take a historical look at each franchise & their Syracuse past:

---

Denver Broncos:

P.J. Alexander (G) 2003-05, 07 - Alexander played 16 games over his career in Denver including a career high 11 games in 2007.

Ted Gregory (NT) 1988 - Gregory was drafted by Denver in the 1st Round (26th overall) in 1988 but never played for the Broncos.

Quentin Harris (S) 2006 - Harris played 6 games for the Broncos in 2006 recording 4 tackles (3 solo).

Dave Jacobs (K) 1979 - Jacobs was drafted by Denver in the 12th round (325th overall) in 1979 but never played for the Broncos.

Kyle Johnson (FB) 2002-07 - Johnson was arguably the last relevant former Orange to suit up for the Broncos after a solid 2005 campaign which he started 14/16 games & recorded 6 TDs. He ended his career in Denver with 45 games played (24 started) 9 rushed for 39 yds & 1 TD plus 33 receptions for 323 yds & 8 TDs.

Floyd Little (RB) 1967-75 - Little was drafted by Denver in the 1st Round (6th overall) in 1967. #44 was a 5-time Pro-Bowler & is one of only 3 Broncos with a retired Jersey. Little played in 117 games (started 93) over 10 seasons & recorded 1641 rushing attempts for 6323 yds & 43 TDs to go along with 215 receptions for 2418 yards & 9 TDs. Tommy Kane (WR) 1988-92 - Kane was drafted by Seattle in the 3rd Round (75th overall) in 1988. He played 57 games (started 37) over 5 seasons with the Seahawks recording 142 receptions for 2034 yds & 9 TDs.

Olindo Mare (K) 2008-10 - Mare played in 48 games over 3 years for the Seahawks making 73/83 FGs (88%) & 89/89 PATs (100%), he also punted once for 32 yds.

Terry Wooden (LB) 1990-96 - Wooden was drafted by Seattle in the 2nd Round (29th overall) in 1990. He had the longest career of any former Orange in Seattle playing 89 games (starting 87) over 7 seasons. He recorded 557 tackles, 5 forced fumbles, 10 fumbles recovered, 6 sacks, 6 INTs & 1 TD.

Both Super Bowl teams have drafted 4 former Orange each & they seem to have had better success in Seattle but the Broncos have had the best player (Floyd Little) & their uniforms are Orange & Blue. All that being said who should we root for?
