Creighton's win over Villanova jumped them from 13th to 2nd in the KenPom Ratings. That shouldn't happen this far into the season, right? After last night, their adjusted offensive efficiency is rediculously higher than anyone else. I'm going to guess that their already outlandish performance was amplified by the fact that they were playing a very highly ranked team on the road.
What does this say about tempo free statistics? Is a game like that such a huge outlier that it's going to break every system? Does it reveal some major component in ranking teams that KenPom is missing? For nights like this where Creighton would have rolled no matter who or where they were playing should the effect that opponent and location have on adjusted efficiency be dampened?
