So I'm listening to Gomez and Dave this morning on the same radio station that gives us such a fine play-by-play featuring Matt Roe and Matt Park. This morning, they featured a fine young man by the name of Gerry MacNamara (Or Joey if you prefer).
G-Mac has got to be one of the most knowledgeable and concise basketball analysts that I have ever heard. Gerry talked about how they are preparing for Pitt, why Michael Carter-Williams and Wes Johnson are doing well in the NBA, and how to develop younger players. I'm enjoying every word that Gerry says, and I'm getting to hear from a true Orange insider that represents everything that is great about Syracuse basketball.
As Gerry is explaining how a defense can blow up an offensive set, especially for Pittsburgh, Gomez (or Dave, I don't care) explains that they stopped following and were instead reading an online article "Things Women with Big Boobs Can't Do". It was upsetting to say the least. I'm enjoying the thoughtful and insightful words of G-Mac, only to have it ruined by lame pop-infotainment bull$#!t.
This isn't the first time. Last week I was listening to G-Mac talk about preparing for North Carolina. As Gerry starts to get into some details, the terrible jocks interrupt him to get his thoughts on ski-ing vs snowboarding vs sitting on the couch, and then make him play some BS mad-lib game. Gerry was nice, and played along, but I was stewing that I didn't get to hear more about one of the biggest games of the year because the DJs thought their stupid thing of the day was more interesting.
I know. I should just stop listening. The reason I tune in is because they are able to get G-Mac and Boeheim on the show during my morning commute, and they generally play good music. I just wish there was enough duct tape for all three of their stupid mouths, with that Hole Lisa included. I'm officially submitting them to Opie and Anthony's Jocktober this year.
