I miss the Big East

I miss the old Big East.

In conference play, the old Big East provided many games against ranked teams; the only ranked games on our conference schedule in the ACC are Duke and (former Big East team) Pitt. At least next year (former Big East team) Louisville will add to the mix.

SU in the Big East since the 04-05 season: played 57 ranked conference games against 46 different ranked opponents. Avg 6.33 games against 5.11 opponents. Lowest 4 games against 3 opponents.

Duke since the 04-05 season: played 41 ranked conference games against 29 different ranked opponents. Avg 4.55 games against 3.22 opponents.

SU right now in the ACC: 4 conference ranked games against 2 different ranked opponents - 2 games against Pitt from last year's Big East. (Equal/less than the lowest in the last 9 years of the Big East!)

Duke right now in the ACC: 3 conference ranked games against 2 different ranked opponents - both were Big East last year!

Duke played 7 ranked conference games (their most) in 1 those 9 years (04-50 to 12-13.) SU played at least 7 ranked conference (up to 9) games in 5 of those 9 years.

(And do we bother talking about SU playing "home" games according to ESPN that are 7 hours from campus when Duke played "away" games 10 miles from campus?)

I miss the old Big East.
