Allen Conspiracy Revisited!

I sat down and watched the first three offensive series again, all 3 and outs, just to see if, as some have pointed out, "the team was conspiring against him".

Here are my findings:

1st and 10: Throw to Broylan in the flat, loss of one yard, #25 Kobena misses a block.

(maybe we have something here?)

3rd and 8: Allen over throws West on a streak, West was open by 2 steps, big gain/TD if thrown properly

2nd Series

Starting at the Wagner 18yrd line

1st and 10: Plenty of time to throw, under thrown ball to West in end zone, knocked away by covering LB, thrown 1 yrd further equals TD.

2nd and 10: Counter run GM II, 2 yrd pick up.

3rd and 8: Overthrown ball to West on a inside post, may get pass interference penalty if thrown lower.

Third Series

Starting at the SU 40yrd

1st and 10: Throw to Broyld low, 2 good WR blocks Broyld makes 2 defenders miss for a 4 yard gain.

2nd and 6: Counter run Gulley(Goalie) pick up of 4.

3rd and 2: Throw to PTG in the flat, a little high, PTG has to adjust and is taken down by the LB in coverage. Big error by Allen on this play, or maybe just a badly designed play. Allen didn't look to the other side of the field away from PTG to make the LB step or think. Allen took the snap looked at the WR on that side of the field running a post, the millisecond he turned to look at PTG his hand came off the ball and the LB was all over it. A couple of things here, had the ball been thrown better PTG may have the first down, second, had Allen faked a pass to the post it may have froze the LB.

My Take on Conspiracy: Busted

Allen was one throw away from remaining the starter, 2 TD's were possible with well thrown balls.
