Guys, I need some beer advice

OK, a friend of mine is turning 50, and my plan is to custom-package 50 great beers for her amusement and education. I'd like to get some great craft beers, or even worthy mass market beers, to try to widen her perspective from the 'usual suspect' beers she drinks now. But...I'm not in any way a connoisseur (if such a word can be applied to beer), so I need help from the experts around here. So give me your recs for what to buy.

The only considerations:

1. Has to be available in Syracuse (or pretty nearby).

2. Has to be available in single bottles, since I'm repackaging them - and also I'm not buying any 50 six-packs, thank you. If that means going to several bars/breweries/restaurants, well - we all have to make sacrifices :)

3. Has to be great.

I will post pics of the goods before I give them. Thanks.
