Change to ACC great for Syracuse | The Juice Online

It’s been three weeks since SU officially joined the ACC. There haven’t been any games yet, so no major effects have been felt. Come fall, SU will see how its sports fare against teams from the ACC. I think they’ll fit in just fine. While the ACC is stronger than the Big East was, it’s not as high and mighty as it may seem. I know this because I grew up in the heart of University of Maryland Terrapins country. Nearly everyone in Maryland roots for the Terps. Georgetown? Forget it. Too small of a fan base. Marcus: Change is good It was the ACC and UMD.

Syracuse players Macky MacPherson, Jay Bromley noticed Doug Marrone's business-like approach | syracuse.com

"Coach Marrone was more laid back. He is more chill," Bromley said. "He didn't really have a great personal relationship with a lot of the players. But Coach Shafer being the (defensive coordinator) first, he built relationships with a lot of his players, especially defensive players. So we understand him, what he wants, what he expects from us, how he desires to play the game. So with that in mind we wanted to play for him more because we know he has our best interests in mind."

Vella, a two-time All-League selection at Irondequoit High School near Rochester before attending OCC, would join two other Lazers in transferring to Syracuse, as Six Nations Arrows star Randy Staats — the two-time NJCAA Offensive Player of the Year — and long-stick midfielder Niko Manning, also a two-time All-American, have plans to join the Orange. Staats, who is currently one of the top forwards for the Six Nations Arrows of the OLA Junior A league, is reportedly finishing up coursework and plans to enroll for spring 2014. Manning and Vella are expected to enroll at Syracuse in the fall.

Contenders & Pretenders in the ACC: Atlantic - From The Rumble Seat

Syracuse is not to be underestimated. Aside from UConn, they were the only team to beat Louisville last year. Their defense is inconsistent but can be really impressive at times, and they're pretty hard to beat at home. We'll see how they pan out this year. Verdict: Jury's Out

Syracuse football preseason camp primer: All eyes on the quarterback battle | syracuse.com

If the season started today, Hunt would be the starter. He proved himself worthy of the spot atop the depth chart during spring practice, where his throwing arm caught up with his athleticism to produce a well-rounded player. The 6-foot-3-inch, 219-pound sophomore can both run and pass, adding an interesting dimension to the Syracuse offense.
