Okay, I am pissed off now....
Since the end of the college hoops season when I last used it, ESPN seemed to have changed their rules as I can no longer access/watch live feeds.
It used to be that, if you were a subscriber to a long list of internet providers you could use the service. Being in the Broadband industry myself, I know that these internet providers have to pay a monthly fee to ESPN in order for the service to be available. My company does not allow our customers to use WatchESPN, well, because my company is cheap and doesn't want to spend the money. We've done business cases to prove that it is worthwhile financially to allow customers to churn for this reason rather than pay the ESPN ransom.
Well, today I want to kind of pay attention to The Open Championship while working, kind of half-listen as I work, watch when I am taking breaks or need a breather, etc. And I am getting this "Unauthorized User" error. In looking through the documentation online for this, it seems that since I have DirecTV for TV service and U-Verse as an internet provider, I can no longer access the feed. It seems that if I had U-Verse as my TV provider I'd be able to watch.
Anyone else know of this change or notice it? Am I doing something wrong? Should I jump out the window now knowing I will miss some precious SU football and hoops games?
