YES Network picking up ACC football and basketball

NEW YORK -- The YES Network, the most-watched regional sports network in the country the past 10 years, has reached an agreement with FOX Sports Media Group by which YES will televise live Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) basketball and football games and Big East basketball games beginning this fall.

As part of the deal, YES will televise up to 10 ACC football games and up to 23 men's ACC basketball games, as well as select women's basketball and Olympic sports. YES will also offer up to 10 Big East basketball games. Telecast schedules will be announced at a later date. All telecasts will be in HD.

Eight schools that will compete in the ACC in football this fall played in bowl games last season. Seven schools that will compete in the ACC in men's basketball during the 2013-14 season, and five schools that will compete in the Big East, participated in the NCAA men's basketball tournament this past spring.

"This agreement is an example of the symbiotic relationship YES now enjoys with FOX, a new minority owner of YES," said Tracy Dolgin, President & CEO, YES Network. "Given our complementary interests and areas of expertise, we anticipate more of these types of mutually beneficial collaborations going forward."

"We're proud to partner with the YES Network to televise Big East and ACC games to fans, students, and alumni throughout the New York area," said Jeff Krolik, executive vice president, FOX Sports regional networks. "New York is one of the traditional strongholds of the Big East, and now that the ACC is also represented through Syracuse, there should be a great deal of regional interest in these games."

Don't know if this means only in-conference games or not, but with the amount of ACC games being shown on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU, adding in YES clears up that just about everything will be on television. Being that Syracuse is the only one specifically pointed out in YES's press release, I'd wager we'll be shown precedence.

I'm curious to see if TWCS produced games (i.e. early season games vs. Colgate) will continue to be picked up by SNY, if it will be a part of this YES deal, or if YES will make a play for those games. Hopefully lacrosse will be added to this like it was on SNY, though all ACC games I'm sure will be too attractive for ESPN to not pick up on one of its channels.

Let's just hope Michael Kay is kept far away from the announcing booth for these games.....

EDIT- This is apparently a split operation of ACC coverage in the area between YES and MSG.
