So Syracuse basketball has finished their year. Spring Football is well...Spring Football. What are you going to do with all that Orange you kinda need an excuse to wear to avoid questions from those who don't understand true fandom? Lucky for you, Syracuse Lacrosse is here to help!
In case you missed it, Syracuse came from behind this past Saturday to knock off Princeton, adding that quality win to a list that already includes Virginia and Johns Hopkins. Yes, the Orange have two losses on the year, but they are excusable. Albany is rising in the polls while Villanova has given the Orange fits the last few years.
The boys over at College Crosse have Syracuse in a tier of teams that have a ton of potential and could make some noise come tournament time. (Stop me when this all sounds familiar.) So far, the Orange have seen veterans JoJo Marasco and Brian Megill anchor the offense and defense respectively, with younger guys stepping up week to week.
The reason you all need to care right now is because of what is happening on Wednesday night. Syracuse faces off with arch-rival Cornell in the Carrier Dome. You will the best one on one matchup in goal scoring machine Rob Pannell taking on All American and arguably best defender in the game Brian Megill. Cornell is one of a select few teams who you could safely circle for the NCAA Championship game. The Orange certainty have just as much, if not more, talent up and down their roster.
Oh, did I mention you should hate Cornell just as much as Georgetown, especially since the Big Red have defeated the Orange each of the past two years after Syracuse stunned Cornell in 2010 with a one-goal thriller. Let the Cornell hating begin.
Break out the Orange at least one more time. This is a rivalry game in a year when our rivalry games have been TREMENDOUS. Come out to the Dome if you can, cheer on the Orange and get excited about one more Syracuse team that's ready to make an NCAA tournament run.
