Jim O'Connor-US PRESSWIRE

Daily links reminds you that there is a huge Syracuse lacrosse game this weekend.

Syracuse University Athletics - Bright Lights, Big City Classic

The Orange can claim at least a share of the regular-season crown with a victory. Syracuse wins the regular-season championship outright, and earns the top seed in the BIG EAST Tournament with a victory against the Irish and a Villanova loss to Providence.

Class of their own: NFL Draft presents final step in seniors’ effort to restore Syracuse’s legitimacy | The Daily Orange

Nassib, Pugh, Alec Lemon and Shamarko Thomas shouldn’t be in this position, ready to be drafted. The Class of 2009 — which consisted of Lemon, Thomas, Pugh and Andrew Tiller, who was drafted a year ago — ranked No. 102 out of 120 recruiting classes, right behind Ball State and just ahead of Utah State. Nassib came in the year before, but he wouldn’t have helped. He was just a two-star himself.

Ron Patterson took the long road to Syracuse | syracuse.com

The 6-foot-3 guard had an outstanding year at Brewster. He helped the Bobcats to a 32-6 record and the New England Prep School Athletic Conference championship. Patterson was named the NEPSAC's Player of the Year.

Syracuse's C.J. Fair's return will impact the Orange in a variety of ways -- all good | syracuse.com

Last year, Fair led Syracuse in scoring without ever being the go-to guy. Yes, he took more shots than any other Syracuse player, but only by a slim margin over Brandon Triche and Michael Carter-Williams. Since Fair had fewer free-throw attempts and more offensive rebounds than either Triche or Carter-Williams, it stands to reason that Syracuse didn’t exactly feature Fair as its main offensive weapon.

Meet Syracuse's Michael Gbinije, a player who pairs versatile game with quirky personality | syracuse.com

"The nice thing with Michael is he gives us some flexibility," SU coach Jim Boeheim said. "We think he can play the two or the three and we played him in practice at the one just to get him used to that. You wouldn’t want him to play 20 minutes at point guard, but he could play there eight or 10 minutes very easily."

2013 NFL Draft: Justin Pugh brings versatility to Giants' offensive line - Big Blue View
What attracted the Giants to Justin Pugh? In addition to talent, the fact that they believe they could play him anywhere on the offensive line.

Justin Pugh gets prank called on draft day and other notes and observations from his NFL draft party | syracuse.com
"Justin Pugh?" the voice asked. "This is Mark Stein with the Cleveland Browns with a bunch of the guys in the draft room in New York." Mark Stein doesn't exist. At least not in the Browns organization. Prank-calling one of his best friends since seventh grade was Harrison Green, a 21-year-old Penn State student studying accounting.

Poliquin: 'The Bud & Brent Show' is back and featuring Fair, Nassib and the Crunch | syracuse.com

2013 NFL Draft: Why the Buffalo Bills and Doug Marrone passing on Ryan Nassib may be best | syracuse.com

In the end, Ryan Nassib to the Buffalo Bills was just too good to be true. And you know what they say about things that seem too good to be true in life.

Syracuse recruit Tyler Roberson enjoyed standout senior year at Roselle Catholic | syracuse.com

Fully healthy this past season, Roberson played so well in leading Roselle Catholic to the New Jersey Tournament of Champions title that he was recently named New Jersey's Player of the Year by the Newark Star-Ledger.

Bills, Marrone Passing on Nassib in NFL Draft is Best Thing for Syracuse : Orange Fizz

Well, make it the second best thing. The greatest outcome of Buffalo and Doug Marrone taking the SU quarterback in the first round last night would’ve been an NFL dynasty. Had Nassib guided the Bills to multiple championships and grown into a Hall of Famer, the Orange braintrust would’ve been hailed as heroes, and SU would’ve reaped the rewards.

Fizz Five: Counting Down the Most Anticipated Matchups of SU’s ACC Slate : Orange Fizz

It’s a new world for the Orange. No more UConn, Georgetown, Villanova, and other long-time rivals. The move will hopefully create new rivalries, maybe with the likes of Duke and UNC. The Fizz breaks down the top five games for the Orange this season.
