C.J. Fair Uncertain of Decision | ZagsBlog.com

"He has not announced," Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim told SNY.tv Tuesday. Asked if he thought the 6-foot-8 Fair would announce today, Boeheim said, "No, I don’t think so, I don’t think so. We’re going to have to wait and see what happens there."

Report: C.J. Fair is Waffling on His NBA Decision, Why Leaving is Too Risky : Orange Fizz

I like Fair, I like his game, I like his attitude and willingness to do anything. I like that he was the best player for the Orange when it mattered most in Atlanta. I don’t like choosing $35k and the grind of 10-day contracts over almost $4M guaranteed. Sure, there’s always the chance you get hurt senior year. But chasing the instant gratification of a second-round spot is short-sighted, when it’s clear he would be the focal point of a young team next season, and have 35 games to improve his stock into a first-round pick.

Stocking up: Syracuse, Hillsman load up with premier recruiting classes | The Daily Orange

"First of all, we try to find players used to winning, and I think that’s the most important thing," Hillsman said. "Second, we want to recruit to our system — we need to get length. We need to get athletes to press and run and play long on defense."

Disagreement surrounds SU’s payment of Big East conference exit fee | The Daily Orange

"We felt there was a sufficient overall benefit to the university by the move that it would be appropriate for the entire university budget to absorb that exit fee," said Joanne Alper, vice chair of the Board of Trustees and chair of its budget committee, in an interview before the meeting. This would come in the national exposure SU gets through the ACC and academic partnerships available with conference members.

Could the 2013 NFL Draft class be the best produced in Syracuse football history? | syracuse.com

In a best-case scenario for Syracuse this year, Ryan Nassib goes No. 8 to Buffalo, tying Larry Csonka as the sixth-highest selection for the Orange. Justin Pugh gets selected late in the first round, elevating two SU players into that round for the second time. Sharmarko Thomas could go in the second round, making it just the second time three SU players have gone that early. Add in Alec Lemon going late (probably) and a potential last-round draft choice of Brandon Sharpe, Deon Goggins or Marcus Sales (possible but unlikely) and you'd at least be approaching the best.

NFL Draft 2013: Podcast with WGR 550's Joe Buscaglia on Ryan Nassib and more | syracuse.com

Joe agrees that Nassib is in play, but is quick to point out he believes the Bills are high on USC's Matt Barkley as well.

Five Syracuse football players who have outperformed their NFL draft pick | syracuse.com

Jim Ringo was a seventh-round selection for the Green Bay Packers in 1953. The center was inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1981 after 15 seasons. Hall of Famer in the seventh round? Definition of a draft-day steal.

Syracuse men's lacrosse back to work after two days of much-needed rest | syracuse.com

"I think we've had a couple days off basically where we haven't done a lot," head coach John Desko said. "We've got to get back in the swing of things, too. We're just going to monitor our guys. I think the two days off has done us a lot of good, and the excitement of playing against Notre Dame in that venue is what it's all about."

With Duke on Syracuse Basketball schedule, is it time to put the court in center of the Carrier Dome? | syracuse.com

"It would need to be a stand-alone event because we’ll need to re-seat the entire building," said Pete Sala, Carrier Dome Managing Director, to Waters in the 2010 story. "It would be very difficult to make it part of the season-ticket package."

Syracuse AD Daryl Gross: Challenging grant of rights in court was moot point among ACC members | syracuse.com

"Everyone that's been around the table, it's really a moot point," Gross said about future litigation. "The fact is everyone signed it, everyone reviewed and researched it and everybody had the opportunity to not sign it. "People signed it willingly."

2013 NFL Draft debate: Matt Barkley vs. Ryan Nassib - Buffalo Rumblings

The debate of the week - which has been debated for nearly a week already thanks to GM Buddy Nix's commentary at last week's pre-draft luncheon - is whether the team will prefer Matt Barkley of USC or Ryan Nassib of Syracuse if they decide to take a quarterback in the first round. ESPN's Todd McShay hears the Bills prefer Barkley, while his colleague Chris Mortensen says that the league thinks the Bills are leaning towards Nassib.

Boeheim Excited to Play Duke, Carolina at the Dome | ZagsBlog.com

"It’s great for our fans," Boeheim, who led his team to the Final Four where they lost to Michigan, told SNY.tv Tuesday. "I think making this move to the ACC, the teams that they identify with — obviously, they’re all good teams — but the teams they identify with in the ACC are Duke and North Carolina. And we’ll get both those teams at home. It’s a huge thing for our fan base, to get those two teams.

'42' star John C. McGinley says Syracuse basketball is more important than the Oscars: PM Buzz | syracuse.com

"The Academy Awards used to be on the same night as the NCAA championships, and [in 1987] Syracuse played Indiana. Since I went to Syracuse, I didn't go out to the Academy Awards. I chose to stay to home with a bunch of other broke New York actors," McGinley said. "We flicked back and forth between the Syracuse game and Oliver, for the four awards the film would win. So was it validating? Sure. But not enough to want to miss the Syracuse game."

Orange Watch: What to make of the Syracuse lacrosse season | The Juice Online

The Orange can be the top-seed in next week’s Big East Tournament by beating the Irish Sat. and if Villanova loses to Providence, but they can also be the third seed if they lose to N.D. no matter what Villanova does because of the stinging 11-10 regular season loss to the ‘Cats. It’s been exactly that kind of season.
