Syracuse Orange Blogger Awards: Favorite Moment Of The Season

USA TODAY Sports

The next award will be given out to commemorate the TNIAAM community's Favorite Moment of the Season.

We've tallied up the votes and the 2013 Syracuse Orange Blogger (S.O.B.) Awards have been decided. Let's honor the players, coaches, fans and moments from the 2012-2013 Syracuse Orange basketball season (and we'll honor our contracts as well).

When a team makes it to the Final Four, there are sure to be a lot of moments the fan base can look back on fondly. When that team's arch rivals also lose to a no. 15-seed in hilarious fashion, well... that almost creates too many choices. Following a March full of merriment (both for Syracuse's success and Georgetown's failures, the nominees for Favorite Moment of the Season have been narrowed down to the following:

C.J. Fair's Dunk Over Otto Porter

Feel free to watch this one over and over again. In dunking over the Big East Player of the Year in such resounding fashion, Count Jackalopes Fair not only helped us put Georgetown away in the Big East Tournament, but also single-handedly derailed Porter's candidacy for the Wooden Award. To help other people appreciate this moment just as much as you do, go vote for it as Dunk of the Year, too.

Cutting Down the Nets as East Regional Champions

We went to the Final Four, guys (and gals). Despite all the nonsense seemingly always surrounding this team, the media naysaying and our own collective thoughts that it couldn't be done, we made it. Honestly, I don't even remember half of the images and videos from the end of the game, either. I was just so euphoric, screaming "FINAL FOUR!!!" at the top of my lungs, that I'm unsure if I even saw the final buzzer sound. The one picture I do remember, however, is Jim Boeheim (happy for once) cutting down the nets. In Georgetown's building. Which reminds me:

Georgetown Loses to No.15-Seed Florida Gulf Coast

Perhaps the final proof-point of just how deep the Syracuse-Georgetown rivalry runs, even during a season in which SU went to the Final Four, one of the Orange faithful's favorite moments was still watching the Hoyas lose. Their first-round upset at the hands of the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles was a fitting, exhilarating exclamation point that finally put an end to all those mentions of the pesky Richmond Spiders (no comment). In fact, some members of the TNIAAM community even claimed they enjoyed the Hoyas' loss more than our own trip to the Final Four...

PointBlankPeriodPeriod:

Watching Georgetown lose to a 15 seed. That is all.

RockLloyd:

I've never had so much fun in a game thread. It was incredible.

MarshallSt:

That night was my favorite game thread of the year.

You should really visit that game thread, by the way. But what's all this reveling without a little Hoya schadenfreude, too?

After carefully counting the votes in what became a surprisingly close race between Syracuse advancing to the Final Four and Georgetown's loss to a 15-seed, the S.O.B. Award for Favorite Moment of the Season is...

Cutting down the nets as East Regional Champions!

It had to be. As a fan base, Syracuse waited 10 years for a return trip to the Final Four and no Georgetown loss was going to stop us from enjoying our own victory most of all. No matter how long you've cheered for this team, a trip to the Final Four should never lose that glimmer of excitement, and on our way out of the Big East, this one did seem a little extra-special.
