Interesting break down of the four Final 4 teams, in what they spend on their hoops, how much they profit, and where they stack up against the rest of the NCAA. I was very shocked at the numbers for Michigan. They don't shell out for hoops on par with Louisville or 'Cuse, it appears ( of course who knows how they account for what in their athletic department).
I recall that during the 2003 Final Four, the USA Today ran a small blurb about which programs spent the most on their hoops. We were listed as number 2 behind Duke, and their was a gap between the #3 team.
Remember a couple of things. In their accounting they figure full freight for room, board, and tuition, so a private schools are going to "pay" more there than a state run school. Also, in Syracuse's case, remember the hoops teams carry a large burden of supporting that big white teflon elephant that we all love so much. I would help if the football team could sell a few more tickets, beers, and Dome Dogs.
