The odds of Syracuse winning it all have improved to 12-1. (That's a pretty significant jump, because after the way the Orange men stumbled to the regular-season finish line with four losses in their final five, those odds were probably 100-1 two weeks ago.) And the odds of Jim Boeheim blowing a gasket this week after being asked about Keith Smart for the second or third time are 2-1.
Syracuse's Otto the Orange - A furry (moldy?), often-deformed orange with an insipid smile. Otto the Orange was almost named "Opie", which rhymes with dopey. The name doesn't rhyme, but it's still dopey.
Now as two of the sport’s elite programs meet Thursday night for the first time since ’98 in Hawaii, about the only things that will be the same inside the Verizon Center as in the previous meetings will be Indiana wearing white, Syracuse orange, and Coach Boeheim patrolling the sideline watching his team play the 2-3 zone with abandonment.
Ernie Davis Dining Center, decorated with orange tablecloths and balloons, celebrated National Orange Day with a menu that included cheese and crackers, orange chicken, butternut squash, orange Jell-O with Cool Whip and freshly squeezed orange juice.
The Fire Marshal’s Office said a fireplace with an insert was in use at the time of the fire. Brand said today the house is uninhabitable.
This week will be painful, Syracuse fans. I’m not saying it will affect the team in any way since they weren’t born yet, but for fans this can be an opportunity for some closure with a win over the Hoosiers Thursday night. Syracuse has won a National Championship since that terrible night which eases the pain a little bit, but when the Orange and Hoosiers meet up in the nation’s capital Thursday, the memories will still be there. And for the Orange faithful, the hatred will still be there as well.
Normally I would say a team doesn’t need to worry about one ugly performance and how it might affect them the rest of the year. But going 2-for-24 on faceoffs after having all sorts of issues at the X last year has to give Syracuse cause for concern.
The Hoosiers rank third in the NCAA in points and three-point percentage and sixth in field-goal percentage.
"I had the most positive belief in myself. I knew I worked too hard for it not to happen. It wouldn't have been possible for it not to happen with how hard I worked. I was working harder than the guys who were on scholarship."
"Right now we're still members of the Big East, and we're representing the Big East right now," coach Jim Boeheim said. "But it's kind of, it's a real gray area, there, I think, as well. Really when we get to this stage I really think that we're representing Syracuse at this stage pretty much."
Against Providence on March 19, Riced tied his career high with four points (two goals, two assists) in the team's 18-9 win. He followed it up with two goals and one assist in Saturday's 11-10 loss at Villanova. For the season, Rice ranks second on the team in scoring with 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists).
Murray scored five goals and dished out three assists against the Huskies. She had two goals and three assists in the first half, helping SU to a 7-0 halftime lead. Murray added three goals in the second half, and her final tally of the day gave the Orange its largest lead of the game at 16-1. In addition, she recorded two draw controls and one ground ball.
7. Sacramento Kings: Michael Carter-Williams, Syracuse. Word of caution to other mockers out there: if you dare replace "Sacramento Kings" with "Seattle SuperSonics" in your mock before the NBA makes its decision, I will find you and I will stab you with a very sharp Dario Saric.
Anish Shroff's German Shepard Lola chose between Syracuse and Indiana...whoever she picked is locked in as the winner...
