Stay connected for news and updates

US PRESSWIRE

Virginia offensive lineman Jon Burton will help replenish the Orange depth in the trenches.

Jon Burton, one of the top offensive linemen from the Roanoke area, should help fill the gaps left by departing stars Justin Pugh and Zach Chibane.

Stat Me: Hard to compile stats for offensive linemen, so the most relevant ones here are 6'6", 310 pounds. Burton has really good size already, and he's on campus this semester, so he'll be ahead of the game after the spring.

Seein' Stars: Scout - 2*, Rivals - 2*, 247 - 2*, ESPN - 3*

Who's Crying?: Campbell, Eastern Kentucky, Northern Michigan. We were the one big offer for Burton.

Money Quote: Fork Union Military Academy assistant coach John Power

He's raw, but he's a hidden gem. He has the skill set to be very good.

Which SU Coach Gets a Bonus?: Another one for former OL coach Greg Adkins.

Fun Fact: Burton only had a few years of football experience in high school, where his team ran the Wing-T, which helped him excel at run blocking. Fork Union ran more of a pro-style attack, so his pass protection skills have been developing more recently.
