Dear Orange Fans,
Your humble author is struggling with the unfolding NC scenario. It would appear that, just like last year, a mighty juggernaut is going to face a squad that, while posting an unblemished W/L, is barely capable of defeating mediocre opposition. While I like the idea of an ACC squad ending SEC hegemony over the national title, I'd also like to have a game worth watching for a change. So, assuming FSU takes care of business against the Dukies, which team would you like to see as their opponent on January 6? I hereby add my two cents in a blatant attempt to inflame the reader and bias the results...
The three contenders:
1) Winner of the SEC Championship: Toughest league out there. Highest strength of schedule. Finished ahead of 'Bama. 'Nuff said.
2) Big 12 Champ: Assuming it's OSU, lost to WVU. Game over, man. And the other two 7-1 teams were not merely beaten, but immolated by OSU, so they're out.
3) tOSU: It's a stretch to assume they will even survive MSU in the B1G championship game, but if they do, is eking out a bunch of scary close wins against so-so squads comparable to what the SEC champ will have accomplished against a murderer's row of the nation's best teams? I have no dog in the fight, but am not interested in seeing another crappy blowout to end the season while the second-best team out there settles for another bowl. Finally, one other peripheral point for hoops fans to consider: Aaron Craft.
