Syracuse Basketball: Jerami Grant Injury Not Serious, Will Play Against Villanova

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Grant sprained his ankle after a fall during the High Point game. It looked worse than it was.

The first two thoughts that ran through my head when Jerami Grant hit the deck following a spill in the second half of the High Point win.

1. We've been pretty lucky in terms of avoiding injuries over the past couple seasons. Knock on a whole lot of wood. (It's usually academic issues that take out our players…)

2. Where's Tim Higgins when you need him?

Grant slipped on a wet spot player's foot the paint while driving to the basket and lay on the ground for some time before he gingerly walked off the court and into the locker room. Syracuse fans in the Dome and watching from home feared the worst.

Thankfully, the star forward is not expected to miss any time with what has been deemed an ankle sprain.

"I’m playing against Villanova," Grant said, "and I’m going to be practicing as soon as we get back."

"It hurt, but at the same time you’ve got to play through some pain," Grant said. "You’re never 100 percent when you’re on the court."

Grant is averaging 12.9 PPG, 5.7 RPG and 1.8 APG.
