The last time SU went a season without a 1,000 yard rusher, Gerg was still roaming our sidelines. This season (as pointed out in an earlier John Casillo article) there is a very real chance that the 5-year streak will come to an end. Jerome Smith currently sits at 705 yards with three games left on the schedule. The one positive about us (probably) getting demolished by FSU is that if the game is out of hand, George McDonald may well forgo the passing game entirely and just run run run the ball. Realistically, Jerome Smith will need to rack up at least 75 yards against FSU, which would leave him needing an average of 110 against BC and Pitt. This is entirely doable, and probably depends more on PTG's playing time than anything else. So there is something that SU is fighting for against FSU, if not a realistic chance of winning. Go Orange, and go Jerome!
