Rivalry: 44th meeting (27-16, Syracuse)
Streak: 3, Syracuse
First Meeting: Lew Andreas' squad found themselves down big to Fordham at halftime of the 1927 match-up. The Orangemen staged a furious second-half comeback only to fall short and lose 31-29. SU's first win in the series wouldn't come until 1930.
Most Famous Meeting: Maybe not most famous but most incendiary would have to be the last Fordham won, which came in 1981. The Rams won 79-78 despite Tony Bruin's 16 points.
School Connections: The two schools played every year between 1927 and 1935, 1939 to 1943 and 1953 to 1964.
Head Coaches: SU: Jim Boeheim (38th Year, 921-314); Fordham: Tom Pecora (4th Year, 25-64)
Last Year: Last year, the Rams went a dismal 7-24. Whatever Pecora's got hiding under his sleeve, he should probably break it out ASAP, for his sake.
Last Game: The Rams opened their season with an 87-67 win over St. Francis.
"Fear Me, I've Killed Hundreds Of Timelords": Senior guard Branden Frazier is the team's best player, averaging 14.2 PPG last season. But we also might want to keep an eye on freshman guard Jon Severe, who scored 28 points in his college debut against St. Francis. Severe shot 9-for-15 from the field, including 7-for-10 from long range. Please don't let this 2013 NY State POY bite us in the ass.
Fun Fact: Digger Phelps coached the 1971 Fordham team that went 26-3 and finished No. 9 in the nation. So now you can hate them.
