Maybe I'm just a little too sensitive. Or maybe I'm giving exactly the kind of reaction Heather Dinich was looking for when she wrote this:
League newcomers Pitt and Syracuse already have played themselves into irrelevance in their respective division races.
I'm a realistic guy. I didn't expect SU to compete with Clemson or FSU for the Atlantic Division title. I still don't, especially with both of them in the top 5 nationally and SU already having a loss against Clemson.
But can someone explain to me how this comment is anything other than unnecessary trolling on the fanbase? How can a team play themselves into irrelevance through two games and standing at 1-1?
Both teams are tied for 3rd in their respective divisions (Pitt at 2-2). So I guess the irrelevance line starts there.
