Before I begin I just want preface by saying that:

A. I am not spell checking so excuse any spelling errors

B. DM and his staff did a great job in rebuilding our football program within a very short period. They will be missed and I pray that shafer can continue the progress as we move forward into the ACC.

With that being said let be honest in saying coach " the Ashton Experiment was a bust" ! Dont get me wrong I can appreciate you showcasing his talents to the SU fan base which has desperately been searching for an impact offensive player for over a decade now. But fellas, pushing the kid into multiple positions this year which consequently never allowed him to develop in any one position all year was ....well dumb founding!

I mean lets look at the facts, the kid has played QB in a spread offense since he was 15 at a very competitive level. He was a dual threat at QB where ever he played and dominated. I have watched Kinder, Loeb, Hunt, and Wilson from high school scouting films, to the scrimmages, and minutes in actual games. None of which have done anything that has been half as impressive as Ashton's footage. Dont believe me, check the stats and the film. One thing I have learned over the years is film never lies.

Ashton is more talented than any QB prospect or player we have in the program. He is stronger (arm & overall), faster, explosive, and most of all he is fearless. To be honest ask the players on the team, they will tell you. The issue was the system was too advanced for him at this stage. I get it! but that doesnt mean you cant give it to the kid in chunks. I mean the kid had just got to school in Jan. 12. It takes time to learn different normanclature.

I will be very interested in seeing how the new regime handles Ashton. I would not be shocked if given the opportunity to see him in shotgun running the sickest zone read scheme and giving defense fits this time next year. However if the kid has another year like this past year or shafer gets defense happy and moves him to the other side of the where we clearly already have our best players then we will be in for a long year. I can promise you that!
