While high school box scores can be really impressive, and it is natural to get overly excited about the new batch of freshmen coming into the program every year, let's remember that they're just that - freshmen. That being said, I'll leave this here...
Zach Allen threw for five touchdowns and ran for three to lead Temple to a 69-37 rout of Shoemaker on Friday at Wildcat Stadium.
Allen, who’s committed to Syracuse, threw for 271 yards and ran for 104 to lead the Wildcats (3-1, 1-0 8-5A) to a district-opening win over the upset-minded Grey Wolves.
What's more, Allen's 271 yards came on just 12-of-18 passing, and he only ran the ball nine times to gain 104 yards.
On the season, Allen leads his division with 1,158 yards through the air, and has tossed 11 touchdown passes. He's run the ball 55 times for 307 yards (5.58 YPC) and five touchdowns.
After falling behind 14-0 to the Steel-High Rollers, Austin Wilson (QB, 6'3", 205) and East Pennsboro clawed all the way back to take a 21-14 win, and advance to 4-1 on the season.
Wilson didn't throw the ball very well, he was only 3-for-11 for 11 yards, by far his weakest performance of the season through the air. However, he was very effective on the ground for the Panthers, gaining 95 yards and scoring twice on 16 carries.
Devan Carter (RB/LB, 6'2", 217) did his thing once again, this time in a 25-10 Brighton win over Irondequoit. The Barons star ran for 297 yards and two scores on 32 carries. Highlights from the game are available here.
Unfortunately for Carter and Brighton, word on the internet is that he may have suffered a broken fibula, and will miss the team's remaining games.
Another big game for Augustus Edwards (RB, 6'1", 210) helped Tottenville fend off an upset bid by New Dorp. The Pirates won the game 20-13 behind Edwards' 205 yards and touchdown on the ground. Edwards also caught two passes for 22 yards.

While Zach Allen, who had a bye this week, has been getting most of the headlines in this recruiting class, Austin Wilson (QB, 6'3", 205) has been putting up very impressive numbers week in and week out for East Pennsboro. The Panthers jumped all over Boiling Springs this week with a 35-0 win behind a 9-14, 144 yard, three touchdown performance by Wilson, who earned some well-deserved rest due to the lopsided score. East Pennsboro is now 3-1 on the season.
Augustus Edwards (RB, 6'1", 210) was also able to be a spectator after a huge first half in a 40-7 Tottenville win over Adams. Edwards gained 144 yards and two touchdowns on just 16 carries, only one of which was after halftime.
Devan Carter (RB/LB, 6'2", 217) had another impressive game for Brighton, finishing with three touchdowns. However, the Barons were not able overcome Spencerport, dropping to 1-3 with the 42-28 loss.
Marqez Hodge and Miami Central also had a bye this week.
