I've been a loyal follower of TNIAAM for a long time. I love this site. This is a great community. We've raised a buttload of money to send kids to football and basketball games. That is awesome.
But I need to warn that this new site layout is probably going to hurt traffic. As a "technology person" who likes the "internet" and "web sites", I hope that SBnation can fix some glaring flaws hurting the usability of the site. I hope I'm wrong, but here's what I see:
- TNIAAM is awesome not only because of the core content, but because of fanshots, fanposts, polls, etc. I now have to scroll down 3 or 4 screen lengths to find all of that stuff.
- Use of whitespace is really bad. Site doesn't scale with window width and resolution. Looks like it was designed for for monitor resolutions with 2008 in mind. See http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp
- When I visit an SBnation site on my mobile, I should get a mobile version, not a one size fit all version that happens to display OK on mobile. The sites should be distinct. Right now, they are not and it makes the desktop experience horrid.
I'd be curious if traffic dwindles to lots of SBnation sites following this design unification. I hope it doesn't, but my guess is that it does - particularly to community-driven content portions of the site.
