It's late September/early October and you know what that means. It's time for the annual Jim Boeheim comments in which he teases that he might retire any minute now and he could not give a rat's ass about what that means.
Here's a comment from Boeheim during a magazine interview last week regarding whether or not he'll pay more attention to ACC basketball teams this season to prepare for next year:
"Next year is a long way away. A long way away. A lot could happen between now and next year."
To me, this is what Boeheim does literally every year. But, of course, it needs to be followed up on. Enter Donna Ditota...
Donna Ditota: Hmmm. Why are you saying that, Jim? Are you suggesting something could happen with you and your position as the head coach?
Jim Boeheim : "No. I just like to say those things."
Exactly.
As for this upcoming season, in which Boeheim is still the head coach of the Syracuse Orange, their Midnight Orange Madness event has been locked in to Friday, Oct. 12. ESPNU announced that the event will be one of 14 involved in the Midnight Madness programing. As we learned last year, you're better off watching it on ESPN3.com since ESPNU will cut in between events happening at the same time.
Finally, if you're planning on attending the Battle of the Midway, there are some affordable options now available. Tickets for $500, $400 and $350 if you're in the military are up. If you were saving up for the $4,999 package, too late. It's sold out.
