Because this is a blog that deals with Syracuse Orange football, this is a blog that deals with a lot of Upper and Lower Body Injuries. Let's delve into them:
So what happened to Brandon Reddish? Nolan reported yesterday that the CB has been MIA from practice for the past two days. You had to assume it was one of three things: academic issues, The Dreaded Upper Body Injury or The Dreaded Lower Body Injury. If you picked TDLBI, you're a winner.
Reddish is "day to day", SU head coach Doug Marrone said Thursday. Reddish apparently suffered the injury against Stony Brook.
Speaking of the injured, what of Justin Pugh? The All-World offensive lineman's return is supposed to happen any week now. That week will be the next one as Pugh will make his return Friday, Oct. 5, against the Pittsburgh Panthers, said Marrone. The line has been holding its own without Pugh so it will be interesting to see what happens to Sean Hickey and how it affects the rest of the line.
Pugh, for one, will be happy for the change:
“It’s terrible,” Pugh said recently. “It’s nuts. I’m going crazy.”
We already know that Steve Rene is out so we'll have to wait and see who is returning punts this week. PTG and Wayne Morgan have apparently been getting more reps on kickoffs and punts.
Meanwhile, remember freshman TE Ron Thompson? I had high hopes for the big man to make an impact in year one. He's been out with an injury for a while and it looks like that injury is going to keep him out for the entire year, according to CuseNation.com. At this point, might as well. Lord Beckett of Wales and David Stevens have this covered for now.
Finally, we know that Iowa transfer John Raymon will not suit up for the Orange this season. Raymon seemed pretty optimistic about getting a wavier but the NCAA denied him still. Raymon isn't the only one left confused...
HCDM on NCAA ruling "I don't agree, nor do I understand it... John is devastated...(He) has done nothing wrong." Courageous through process.

That's about as pissed off as Doug Marrone gets publicly, so I guess he really was expecting to see Raymon on the field this season.
