Stony Brook Coaching Dominated the 1st half

Here is a recap of what I saw during the game. First thing first, Stony Brook coaches need to be commended on scouting this team! They exploited a huge weakness that played to their strength, running to the left side of the defensive line. Stony Brook is very big on the O-line, made to dominate the trenches and run the ball, they saw a weakness on film and kept hitting it all first half. Second, they blitzed Lou Alexander all game and made life a living hell for Nassib. Thank you! Refs for missing a couple holds on Lou that gave Nassib enough time for long passes, one was really bad where he pulled him down by the jersey. Nassib is right now praying Pugh is 100% for the next game, not Pitt. Third, if Stony Brook had anyone that could catch a ball, SB wins this game. Now the good news, SU did a good job of eliminating everything SB did in the first half. Zion Jones was a great change on the Dline. Hickey needs to be in a bit more in my opinion, as bad as he was last year. But they also ran to Alexander's side on the forth down and goal, I did not care for that one bit unless you are going to pinch the defender to the inside and run it off Lou to the outside with a cut back(whick I would not recommend) should have been a QB sneak if you ask me the way Nassib can push the pile. I do miss the High Flying Curtis Brinkley down there! Special Teams coverage was really good, both punt and kickoffs. The kicking was very poor and Rene I think is done for the season, looked like his should is trashed. Don't care for the passing on 2nd and 3 or 4, when you just had a great hard run. I understand you think you can pick it up on third down but the incomplete pass early in the game puts to much pressure on the offense to get that first down, also pressing the defense who just got of the field less that a minute ago. Personally I would rather pound the ball twice for the 3 yards and try to get the first down and at least give the D a little rest in the first series. Very excited to see what Ashton Broyld brought to the table, still waiting for the lateral from Nassib and pass by Ashton down the field though. Maybe next game! Anyway that is some of my insite on the game. Anything can happen, a win is a win and thank God we are not Arkansas and almost Auburn! UL Monroe is not on our schedule thank you for that.
