Syracuse on SUnday is back for the 2012 season with 14* former Orange on NFL rosters.
Since this is the 1st Week of the regular season I've included several players that didn't make final roster spots.
I've also decided to list players by Offense & Defense (let me know what you think).
Curtis Brinkley (San Diego Chargers) - 10 carries (team high) for 12 yds (tie team high) rushing (long of 6 yds) & 3 catches on 5 targets for 28 yds (long of 12 yds) in a win @ Oakland on Monday Night Football.
Delone Carter (Indianapolis Colts) - Inactive in loss @ Chicago. (Carter was apparently lucky to make the Colts roster & is currently listed 4th on the Depth Chart at running back.)
Mike Williams (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) - 2 catches on 3 targets for 12 yds (long of 6 yds) & 1-TD in win vs. Carolina.
Dwight Freeney (Indianapolis Colts) - Started & had no recorded stats in loss @ Chicago. (Freeney who made the switch to outside linebacker this season as part of the Colts new 3-4 Defense left the game in the 1st Quarter with an ankle sprain & underwent an MRI, he is being considered day-to-day.
Steve Gregory (New England Patriots) - Started & recorded 2 tackles (1 solo) in a win @ Tennessee.
Doug Hogue (Detroit Lions) - No recorded stats in win vs. Rams.
Arthur Jones (Baltimore Ravens) - Recorded 4 solo tackles in win vs. Cincinnati on Monday Night Football.
Chandler Jones (New England Patriots) - Started & recorded 5 tackles (3 solo, 1 tackle for loss), 1 sack & 1 forced fumble (which resulted in a TD) in a win @ Tennessee [Jones played 58 of 65 snaps].
Jameel McClain (Baltimore Ravens) - Started & recorded 2 tackles (1 solo) & 1 pass deflection in win vs. Cincinnati on Monday Night Football.
INJURED RESERVE/ EXEMPT:
Wil Allen (New England Patriots) -
From Rotoworld on Aug. 27th "Allen suited up for New England's first two preseason games, but suffered an undisclosed injury against the Bucs on Friday. This will be the second time in three seasons Allen has missed the entire year, putting his career in doubt at the age of 34."
Andrew Tiller (New Orleans Saints) -
Was placed on IR on 8/12 following surgery on a torn triceps muscle August 10th. Tiller was a 6th-round draft pick.
Tony Fiammetta (New England Patriots) -
Fiammetta was placed on the Exempt list on Aug. 4th, from Rotoworld: "A bruising difference maker in parts of 10 games as the Cowboys' lead blocker last season, Fiammetta's year was marred by a suspected concussion. It's pure speculation, but it's likely one of the reasons Fiammetta is hanging up his cleats. The three-year veteran is still two weeks shy of his 26th birthday"
Tanard Jackson (Washington Redskins) -
Jackson was suspended on 8/31 indefinitely for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, AGAIN.
From Rotoworld on Aug. 31st: "Per FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, Jackson's status will not be re-evaluated until 2013. According to beat writer John Keim, the Redskins had been waiting a "long time" to learn Jackson's status, suggesting they knew such a ban was possible. Jackson was suspended for all of 2010 for violating the NFL's drug policy. He had been competing with Madieu Williams and DeJon Gomes at free safety. Although Jackson is still only 27, a second year-long ban is going to threaten his career."
(Washington Redskins) - Cut on 8/27 & added to practice squad on 9/3. Practice squad deletion on 9/11.
Ryan Bartholomew - Cut by Arizona on 8/2
Ryan Durand - Taken off of IR & cut by Tennessee on 9/10
Dorian Graham - Cut by Baltimore on 8/31
Michael Hay - Cut by St. Louis on 7/25
Mike Holmes - Cut by Jacksonville on 8/25
Olindo Mare - Cut by Carolina on 8/27
Quinn Ojinnaka -
Cut by St. Louis on 9/2 Signed with St. Loius on 9/12
Nick Provo - Cut by Baltimore on 5/15
Kevyn Scott - Cut by Dolphins on 8/31
Derrell Smith - Cut by Houston on 8/26
Phillip Thomas - Cut by Philadelphia on 8/31
Aaron Weaver - Cut by Chiefs on 8/26
Anthony Smith - After playing last season on Tennessee, Smith retired on 7/21, from Rotoworld: "Smith is only 28, but he hasn't had a solid role since the Steelers gave up on him following the 2008 season. In 2007, he infamously guaranteed a victory against the 12-0 Patriots and then proceeded to give up two big touchdown plays in a 34-13 loss. "We've played against a lot better safeties than him, I'll tell you," Bill Belichick said afterward. If this really is the end for Smith, he finishes with 19 career starts -- 14 of which came in his first two seasons."
Donovan McNabb (?) - McNabb who has yet to officially retire from football has joined the NFL Network.
