Davon as a member of the FCC basketball team via www.fresnocitycollege.edu
Oh, you thought the Get To Know Your Orange Man series was over? You thought WRONG.
Name: Davon Walls
Position: Defensive Tackle
Year: Junior
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 315
Hometown: Brooklyn, NY
High School/Junior College: Abraham Lincoln/Coahoma CC
North 2011 Stats: Honestly, I can't find out. I guess he did well, though.
2012 Projections:Very tough to say at the moment. Walls won't report to camp until Tuesday due to some academic issues, so he's going to be playing a lot of catch up. He's not even on the depth chart at the moment and he's going to have to work hard in order to make a dent. It usually takes JUCO transfers a year to get up to speed, so figure that this year will be a learning one for the transfer, with his impact being felt next season.
How'd He Get Here?: It remains unclear how he ended up here but given the fact that he's from Brooklyn, I'm sure Marrone or Anselmo made some calls.
What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: I didn't see any listings for him on Rivals or Scout so it looks like he was a late bloomer.
Money Quote: Nothing from Walls yet but here's his new D-line coach Tim Daoust on his wealth of incoming talent...
"It’s a good Christmas Day for me right here, having all these gifts. I have to figure out how to use them."
What Does Marrone Think?: "Davon Walls will be reporting, we believe, on Tuesday. He has a test, academics obviously, outside of Syracuse University that he needs to complete before he becomes part of the team." So, he's expecting him, at least...
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Walls was a big basketball player at Lincoln High as well as in CC so you can bet he's pretty agile for a big guy.
Let Us Get a Good Look Atchya:
Besides playing football, he's also a good public speaker...
