I spent the July 4th holiday by going home to my parents house, which may sound questionable but they have a Jetski and really what's more American than that? During my time home I had to take a pilgrimage up to the Hill and check out how things are holding up. As I'm sure most of you know, the Carrier Dome is getting some upgrades this summer with new locker rooms, ribbon boards, and two new jumbotrons. More Screens! Bigger Screens! HD everywhere!
I took some photos of the work in progress and I present them below for anyone whose curious as to how things are shaping up. I think the new screens are going to make a HUGE difference when they're completed and will change the way Orange fans enjoy games. For one thing as far as I can tell from the press releases, they are going with Jumbotrons above each endzone, moving the one that was located in the corner of the basketball side. Also the new screens are going to be HUGE, once again I'm not sure of the exact numbers but wikipedia says the current screens are 15'x25' the press release for the new boards lists them at 21'x40' combine that with the fact that there will be a "ribbon" screen running 360 around the entire field and it's going to be much easier for fans to find stats, video, and replays. It's a much needed upgrade, one that will enhance the fan experience and should help with recruits because kids love watching themselves on giants TVs and I bet you can hook up a xbox to it.
Definitely not the normal temperature you see when in Boeheimburg
You can see the black ring of the "ribbon board" already stretching around half the dome
I believe the Screen that's in the Corner of the Basketball side is getting moved to the side directly above the endzone, which previously just displayed Stats
And since it was July 4th, here's a patriotic shot of the Manley indoor Practice Field for anyone who wants a new computer background
