As well as being a Syracuse grad, Bob Costas has been tapped to cover the Olympic games. He won a lot points in the hearts of many across the globe this week, when he stood up for the families of those killed in Munich 40 years ago.
The story goes that Israel asked the IOC for a minute of silence to remember those killed by terrorist 40 years ago. The IOC, for reasons unknown to virtually anyone with common sense, denied the request. Costas has been outraged over this and has said he will use the time Israel is on the broadcast to highlight this injustice and to remember those whose lives were cut short.
