We're currently scheduled to play the Nitts in New York's College Classic in New Jersey in 2013. I highly doubt we'll see a death penalty at Penn State, especially one enacted by the NCAA. But let's play the hypothetical game that someone somewhere, maybe from State College itself, decides Penn State needs to step back and not play a season or two of football, including the 2013 season. What happens to NYCCINJ? Wouldn't we be hard pressed to find a big time opponent to fill that spot? Granted it's up to us who we bring to the Meadowlands, but I highly doubt we're bringing Akron. (OR WOULD WE?!)
Additionally, our 2013 non-conference schedule would be pretty much shot.. We have three scheduled, and we'd probably be losing two in this situation (Penn State, BC becomes a conference game). Wouldn't we be scrambling to book a bunch of FCS teams or get stuck with the same thing we had this year having to book a game at Mizzou without anything in return?
