SU Softball update

The Orange advanced to the winners game in the Tempe Regional today with a 4-2 win over Long Beach State. They will face no. 3 seed Arizona State (9-0 winners over LIU Brooklyn this evening) tomorrow afternoon. SU is now 41-14 overall.

The 'Cuse struck first in the bottom of the 1st inning when Julie Wambold singled to left field scoring Stephanie Watts.

SU added another run in the 2nd when Lisaira Daniels doubled to left center, scoring Morgan Nandin.

Pitcher Stacey Kuwik held off Long Beach St. batters through the first three innings, but had trouble in the 4th. Leilani Tupua-Tautalatasi doubled down the right field line, scoring two runs, which tied the game at 2.

The Orange regained those runs in the bottom half of the inning. Lisaira Daniels hit an inside-the-park home run, wnich also scored Carey-Leigh Thomas. SU led at that point 4-2 after 4 innings.

Jenna Caira replaced Kuwik in the 5th inning and recorded four strike outs in three innings of pitching. Kuwik ended up with the win (her 14th of the season) while Caira picked up the save (her 2nd).
