I know it doesn't really affect the Orange since they'll likely be gone by the time the Mustangs are slated to joint the BEast in 2013 anway. But this is a dubious hire to me. There's no questioning Brown's basketball credentials. The college game, though, stars with recruiting. I don't care how good a coach you are, you need the talent to execute it. Most kids today haven't even heard of Larry Brown, much less know enough to want to come to play for him. Hell, I'm 30 and most of Brown's accomplishments were even before my time. I recognize the need/desire of SMU to have a big name on the sidlines for when they move up to the big time. But was Larry Brown the best they could do?
