I tweeted during the game, that Syracuse fans (myself included) are the 17 year old girls of college basketball. #OverSensitive and (we think) #NoOneUnderstandsUs.

Cuse Nation is up in arms about Doug Gottlieb pointing out that we don't rebound well (true), aren't great in half-court sets (true, although we're not bad), shoot inconsistently (true), and haven't played "elite" teams to prove how good we are (true). Yes, I know we don't have total control over our schedule and no one could've predicted just how much UCONN and Pitt were going to struggle this season, but he's right: our best win is Marquette at home. Our best road wins are at Louisville and at UCONN. If Doug Gottlieb wants to voice his opinion that we're the (god forbid) third best team in the country, WHY IS EVERYONE FREAKING OUT?!?!

We as Syracuse fans need to grow some thicker skin. Is he wrong? Maybe. How could anyone possibly know right now, because he's right we haven't been tested by UK, UNC, Mizzou, Michigan State, Ohio State, Kansas or Duke, and those teams have all played at least one game against another so-called elite team. But it's HIS OPINION. And he's paid to give his opinion, and to be contrarian, to rile us up, to crap on everyone, because it's good for ratings (at least that's my understanding from watching "Private Parts" in high school - it was okay, there were boobs).

Yes, I'm keenly aware that we're 31-1 and our only loss was at Notre Dame without Fab Melo (our most irreplaceable player). But that doesn't matter. The Doug Gottliebs of this world will shut up if and when we make it to the Final Four and hopefully win a National Championship. This insane Rodney Dangerfield-esque desire to finally get the respect we deserve is silly not just because we haven't DEFINITIVELY proved we've earned it, but because we're already getting it!!!! Everyone thinks we're a #1 seed and one of the top 5 (if not top 3) teams in college basketball. We don't need to hate on Gottlieb or post stats or point out that we have a better record against the RPI top 50 than UNC, just chillax bras and let the team we all know and love do the talking for us.
