When the Syracuse Orange take on the UNC-Asheville Bulldogs Thursday at 3:10 p.m. EST, they'll be squaring off for the fourth time ever. As you probably assumed, Syracuse has won all three previous meetings.

The first meeting took place November 30th, 1991 when Dave Johnson led SU with 26 points in a 83-68 victory.

Syracuse opened the 1997-1998 season with a 60-57 victory over the Bulldogs. Ryan Blackwell led the Orange with 17 points in his first game with SU.

Most recently, the two met on Dec. 28, 2003 in the Carrier Dome when the Orange cruised to a 81-63 victory. It sounds like it was a vintage win for Hakim, Gerry and the boys at the time.

Junior forward Hakim Warrick scored a game-high 18 points and sophomore guard Gerry McNamara added 17 points...

After the Bulldogs cut Syracuse’s lead to 62-51 with seven minutes to go in the second half, SU’s stars took over to fuel the Orangemen in the game’s waning moments. McNamara hit his fourth of five 3s and Warrick added a dunk and a layup. Just like that the score was back up to 69-53.

History should repeat itself once more later today...
