Syracuse Basketball: DaJuan Coleman Named McDonald's All-American
The 2012 McDonald’s All-American teams were announced Thursday and Syracuse Orange commit DaJuan Coleman was among the 24 players selected.
EAST
Kyle Anderson (No. 5, UCLA)
DaJuan Coleman (No. 11, Syracuse)
Kris Dunn (No. 24, Providence)
Perry Ellis (No. 33, Kansas)
Shaq Goodwin (No. 21, Memphis)
Gary Harris (No. 16, Michigan State)
Amile Jefferson (No. 14, Uncommitted)
Tyler Lewis (No. 55, NC State)
Tony Parker (No. 22, Uncommitted)
Alex Poythress (No. 13, Kentucky)
Rodney Purvis (No. 18, NC State)
T.J. Warren (No. 25, NC State)
WEST
Brandon Ashley (No. 4, Arizona)
Isaiah Austin (No. 8, Baylor)
Anthony Bennett (No. 15, Uncommitted)
Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell (No. 27, Indiana)
Archie Goodwin (No. 7, Kentucky)
Grant Jerrett (No. 23, Arizona)
Shabazz Muhammad (No. 2, Uncommitted)
Marcus Paige (No. 28, North Carolina)
Devonta Pollard (No. 20, Uncommitted)
Cameron Ridley (No. 9, Texas)
Marcus Smart (No. 10, Oklahoma State)
Rasheed Sulaimon (No. 12, Duke)
NC State has three guys on there? I'd say good thing we got our series with them over with but we've kinda got an infinity series starting up with them again soon.
No. 1 prospect Nerlens Noel did not make the list because he reclassified from a 2013 recruit to a 2012 recruit past the deadline. Otherwise, he would have been a shoo-in.
DaJuan joins an elite list of Orange players and is the fourth McDonald's AA in the last three years for SU.
The game will be played March 28 in Chicago.

Amile Jefferson
Anyone know anything about the status of his recruiting? Has SU backed off or are they still recruiting him? Do we only have one scholarship between him and Noel? I find that part hard to believe since Mookie leaving means SU has 3 open scholarships after this year for certain with two of them being taken by Coleman and Grant. I thought that SU was one scholarship under the limit, but if they aren’t and Reese has a scholarship, he’s gone after this year too. I realize that Mookie could come back, but the timing of his departure makes me think he was going to be ruled academically ineligible and would have to go to summer school to come back to SU. I suspect he’s transferring to Canisius or maybe Iona. Obviously Fab could move onto the NBA, but other than that, I don’t see any other attrition. Dion will be an NBA player but I think that the last month has proven to me (and NBA scouts) that Dion isn’t ready for the NBA-yet. The answer will likely be different in a year. Great work as always.
I don't see an offer from Syracuse for Jefferson on Scout
but I do see ones from Villanova, Duke, NC State, Kentucky and Ohio St.

SU dropped him a long time ago
SU wrapped up there recruiting class the day the got coleman, it wouldnt make sense for them to go after him, he would be the 4th pf on the team. only reason they reopened they recruiting on this class was for noel.
thank god your not a scout
dont you remember the last game, against st johns where he dominated, players go through midseason slumps, it was only 3 games where he was off, its pretty consensus hes a lotto pick. I know how awsome it would be for him to stay but kid would be crazy not to enter draft. Anyways triche in the main guy role would explode for a huge season, he played the role in hs and was the best player in NY scoring like 50 points a game or somhting crazy. Also mcw, will have a dion type year next year, but with more potential.
This will be interesting
Coleman was at the top of the class for a while, but basically fell a little bit since he didn’t go the prep route. Now he gets to face these boys. Too bad the all-american game is a guard exhibition though
Is this Coleman related to Derrick Coleman?
Being stuck out here in Los Angeles, it’s not easy to keep up on all things Syracuse.

So, just a coincidence.
I just assumed that he was, since several 2nd generation kids have played for the Cuse. It’s just sad that I’ve seen two generations of Rautins play, that I started at SU in Boeheim’s first year as a coach, and that I was at the Georgetown-Syracuse game when the effing Hoyas broke the winning streak at Manley. Even my son just graduated from Syracuse.
By the way, how do you embed the Twitter link in your signature? I’ve seen a few people do it.

This site
is awesome for keeping up on Cusian things. I too live on the West Coast and have been able to stay in touch with Cuse. Not sure how I would have done that 15 years ago.
Without Gerry McNamara we wouldn't have won 10 f-- games, not 10

What did I do before the interwebs
In 87, I was on a flight to London during the Syracuse-Providence game in the Final Four. I begged the pilots to provide score updates, which they gladly did. I thought that was the highlight of technology. On the night of the Finals (I think it was a Sunday back then), I had my girlfriend, also a Cuse grad, call me in my hotel every 15 minutes for updates on the Indiana game, since there was no internet access back then. Or live streaming. Or anything. Our phone bill was crazy.

You definitely came to the right place. I don’t know what I’d do without this site. It definitely makes it easy to keep in touch with all things Syracuse.

My oldest daughter was conceived after an SU game :) Let’s just say we were excited.

Aren't you special.
I was born two days after a home win against Wyoming. THAT’S SPECIAL, TOO!

Poor Noel
UK will not want him now because hes not a Mcd’s AA.
espn hates coleman now that he picked su over uk
he is the 2nd highest rated guy on the east and all i heard themtalk about is a uk player and ppl who might chose them. Coleman is very underrated hes dominate already and guys who rate pick potental over talent all day. also he spent the end of the summer hitting the books and lost exposure which hurt him. I would rather have a guy like sullinger who will dominate at the college level right away then a guy that may or may not have more nba potential like drummond. Anyways sully would have been a top 3 pick last year.
What the heck is going on at NC State?
dont they know that coach is known for poppin off?
May Doug Marrone bless you and keep you.
