Syracuse Orange No. 2 In AP, Coaches Poll Once Again

No big surprises this week since the Syracuse Orange took care of business against the St. John's Red Storm and Kentucky won out the week as well.

In the AP Poll, Syracuse received it's requisite 2 first-place votes but is No. 2 overall behind Kentucky, who received sixty-three votes. Incidentally, the two people who voted us No. 1 are the two most extreme voters of the week. Oh well.

Georgetown is No. 12, Marquette is No. 18 and Louisville is No. 24.

Looks like we can take Staten Island Advance writer Cormac Gordon and #AddHimToTheList. He's the only voter to put us at No. 4 overall, behind Kentucky, Ohio State and Missouri. Staten Island is out of the Ottoman Empire for now.

Kentucky is the unanimous No. 1 once again in the Coaches Poll with Syracuse a solid No. 2 (heehee). Ohio State, Missouri and Baylor round out the top five. Georgetown is No. 11, Marquette is No. 19 and Louisville is No. 23.

Syracuse is still No. 1 in the RPI, ahead of Duke, Baylor, Ohio State and Kentucky.

SU is No. 3 in the Sagarin Rankings behind Ohio State and Kentucky.

The Orange is No. 3 in the Massey Ratings behind Kentucky and Ohio State.

Syracuse is No. 1 in the Colley Matrix, ahead of Kentucky and Baylor.

The Orange remain a No. 1 seed in the East in SB Nation's Bracketology where Long Island awaits us. SU is the No. 1 overall seed in Lunardi's brackets, where we might end up playing our new rival, Stony Brook.

The only important part to take from this is:
The Orange remain a No. 1 seed in the East

That’s it, nothing else matters. The whole season till Selection Sunday is just to get those words put together. That’s the team’s best case scenario. Don’t give a fuck about ranking, RPI, standard deviation, non-con SOS while baking cookies. 1 seed in the East has got to be the regular season goal. Anything less would be disappointing for this team right now.

Go Orange(men)!

Exactly

The likes of UNC, Duke, Kansas, etc. falling every week, I think it will take something huge for Ohio State, Kentucky, SU and Missouri to fall from those top 4 seeds. If that’s the case, I find it hard to believe we wouldn’t end up with Boston.

My brain

Says exactly that.

My heart says I want #1!

pretty much

No other northeast team can really lay claim to a #1, so it’s easy enough to slot the Orange in Beantown.

Solid No. 2 (heehee)

I got a kick out of the announcer on a Kentucky game a few weeks ago when they said Davis drove the lane and “makes a well earned deuce.”

I thought to myself, aren’t they all?
