What does an SU alumnus have to do to get NCAA tickets to Boston and/or New Orleans at face value?
While I'm not a season ticket holder, I do make an annual trek back to the Dome to see a hoops game. This year, I'll be at the Lousiville game on March 3rd.
I still keep in touch with my buddies from and SU and we are considering a trip to Boston to see the Sweet 16. (assuming that we are placed in the East bracket and win our first two games). A quick entry at the official NCAA website to buy tickets reveals not a single ticket is available via this website:
http://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/div-one-bball-tickets-pre/2010-12-19/ticket-information
I was able to find out that face value all-session tickets were $195.
There is an additional link to buy at primesport.com, which apparently is the official NCAA ticket exchange site:
http://www.primesport.com/ncaaboston/about
A quick search at this site shows tickets range from $427 for 11th row in the upper deck to $2800 for 5 th row in the center lower level.
I would really enjoy sitting with the group that travels from SU. How does an alumnus get tickets from SU? In 2003, I didn't have the disposable income that I do now, but spending $1000 each for decent tickets on a website doesn't appeal to me.
Does anyone have any advice on how an alumnus gets tickets to Boston and/or New Orleans?

Tickets
I’m a season ticketholder, in the Preferred Plan “A”, meaning I make a donation of over 1K yearly to be allowed to buy my seats for the season. I’m also an alumnus. I may have access to seats for the post season, but I may not.. The allotment for schools is limited and students get a crack at seats too. I’ve been to NCAA games SU has played in (most recently Buffalo in 2010.). Day one I went as a guest in a luxury box. Day 2 I bought a ticket on Stubhub for $100 bucks. There’s nothing available where you’ll get seats at face value. The NCAA has an application process that begins at the end of each season for the next year’s tournament. If they play in the northeast the seats will command a premium price. Simple example of supply and demand. My advice: see where they get seeded and start looking on Stubhub or that city’s Craigslist. You might get lucky, but will still pay above face value.
Try This
Head over and hang around the bars where Cuse fans are at. You might get lucky especially if you are a single. Prices should come down right before tip off.
Sleep with Laurie Fine?
is that wrong? i’m going to plead ignorance on this one….
On Stubhub
The strip seems to start around $300 for the two days. That’s not far off face value.
