I find it hard to believe he isn't going to retire within the next year or two
What’s the point? He got another title last year, he keeps landing on the sidelines, his name always seems to be in the middle of some recruiting scandal a-la Calipari. He’ll only damage to himself and his legacy.
My Question
If the team does well I assume Calhoun gets the wins, but if they do poorly I do they get pinned on Blaney?
pretty sure blaney gets credit for the wins
question I have is if this back problem has been going on for a while, why does he leave now? cause they are 14-7 and losers of 3 straight?
didn’t seem to bother him when they were #4 pre-season and landing the #1 recruit in the country
You keep chanting one more year, I thought college was four years

Perhaps he injured his back
delivering the large duffel bags of money to Drummond and Boatright.
Moral: Losing is a pain in the ass (I mean lower back region).
Oh, look at me! I'm making people happy. I'm the magical man from. Happyland in a gumdrop house on Lollipop Laaane! Oh, by the way, I was being sarcastic.
Calhoun should get credit for wins and losses when out.
That is the norm. The NCAA ruled that he shouldn’t get the credit while he was suspended. But the norm is the head coach is the coach of record whether he is on the sideline or not.
This could also help us with Noel
I think UConn is as big of an obstacle as Kentucky is to getting him. I don’t think uncertainty at the HC position is going to land the top recruit in the country. Look at the guys St. John’s landed who are having buyer’s remorse with Lavin being out so much.
Win totals
What’s the record for most wins that you are not actually on the sidelines for?

Calhoun's wins while he was suspended don't count.

but the one's from his last medical leave count
and I expect they will from this one too. Boeheim’s total includes wins actually coached by Fine I believe…
F#&% the Big East
If I recall JB missed maybe 3 games and we played like crap.
Don’t remember our record but I remember Fine looked as nervous as Dennis Hopper’s character when he was called on to coach in ‘Hoosiers’. Anyone wondering why Fine never got a head coaching job look no farther than those few games.
A shame
I always liked the coaching duels between JAB and Calhoun.

Also
I find it amusing that coaches tend to need more time away when there is a losing streak, etc.
When Coach K left during the 1995-1996 season. While the team was 9-3 when he left, the last game he coached that year was a loss to Clemson. And the team ended up 13-18. If that team was good—wouldn’t he have gutted it out? The next year they were 18-13 too. Not like that was a great period for Duke hoops.

Also, does he hate the Dome or something?
Last time they came here he was out with a health problem, if I’m not mistaken
Odds on him returning?
This has gotten chronic with him in the last three years. I am wondering if he wont just retire. As a college basketball coach, you cant do much more than he’s done. ( I know they usually dont see it that way)
Ive heard he came back more or less to answer the NCAA infractions
and not appear to be running away from them before retiring
With the shape his back is in, and the fact that he just won the title,
I definitely see him hanging it up.
