Former Syracuse Orange defensive end Chandler Jones had himself a solid day Monday at the 2012 NFL Combine and increased his chances of hearing his name called early on draft day.
Jones' top metric came in the vertical jump where his 35 inch leap tied him for fourth among defensive linemen. His a 120 inch broad jump was also among the top ten in the group. Clearly, Jones showed off his athleticism.
In the notable 40-yard-dash, Jones officially ran a 4.87, which didn't crack the top 10 times but is considered above-average and won't hurt his draft stock.
His other stats include 22 reps on the bench press, a 7.03 second run on the three-cone drill and a 4.38 second 20-yard shuttle.
Other Syracuse athletes in the combine haven't done much to make noise. Andrew Tiller's measurements weren't terribly impressive while Nick Provo did not participate in any drills Saturday, as he's still recovering from shoulder surgery.
Phillip Thomas runs his drills on Tuesday as the Combine comes to a close. Watch that 40 time...
