No. 6 Syracuse Orange (1-0) vs. Army Black Knights (2-1) GameThread
The Syracuse Orange lacrosse team came out of the game last week and put to rest initial concerns about their unknown elements. They'll have to keep it up and improve even further Sunday when the Army Black Knights visit the Dome.
The Knights might not be Johns Hopkins or Virginia but it's worth noting that no one has beaten us more in NCAA history than Army:
The answer is Army, which owns 39 victories over the Orange entering today’s 2 p.m. contest in the Carrier Dome. SU is 500 games over .500 (822-312-16) overall but 19 games under (20-39) vs. the Black Knights.
And while it is true that Syracuse is 9-2 against Army since the teams began playing annually in the Carrier Dome in 2002, one of the two losses was among the most disappointing of the decade – a 9-8 double-overtime upset in the opening round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
We might have avenged that loss last year but I feel like it needs a little more avenging. It was a crappy loss.
College Crosse has more info on this and every game going on Sunday.

On an unrelated note,
USF has to be in now. I don’t care how weak their unbalanced conference schedule was. 11 wins in the Big East is still 11 wins in the Big East.
Go Cuse!
....And Georgetown still sucks!

should be a 45 second shot clock that starts after the team gets into the box and should reset if it is either saved or teams will just launch wild shots with someone backing up at all times to get a new clock

two easier things to try first
1) change the pocket rule so you don’t need need a chainsaw to generate a loose ball
2) eliminate the backup rule. Ball out of bounds on a missed shot = turnover.
Traditionalists will hate #2, but I think they’ll hate a shot clock even worse.
We will not rest until we see these capitalist octopuses annihilated.

I think #2 will slow things down, not speed them up. It’ll make teams hold the ball even more and pick and choose their shots even more.

Late to post on this ...
But agreed.
You want them to shoot MORE, not less. This would slow the game down worse than anything.

ooh, didn't know this was on
cool, now I have something to watch (esp since Daytona is in rain delay).
Shut up brain or I'll stab you with a Q-tip
Every time I read about SU playing Army in lacrosse
Roy Simmons Jr once said that it was hard to play Army since they’re trained to fall on grenades.
Go Cuse. Go Utes. Go Kings (hockey version). Go Panthers (hockey version). Go Marlins. Go Dodgers. I despise the NFL and NBA, so don't bore me.
man up expires, but Jojo to Coleman goal on same possession, 3-1 SU
Shut up brain or I'll stab you with a Q-tip
4-2, save & Galloway-esque outlet pass to start the break
Shut up brain or I'll stab you with a Q-tip
GOALLLLLL
btw, anyone noticed all the tarps in the upper decks? are they trying to cover up the ugly looking concrete and metal bleachers

Real sloppy on offense, can't seem to do the basics right now

Was at the game
Thank god we pulled it off. Need to get better at holding on to the ball.
But that may be the worst officiated game I’ve ever seen in any sport. I’ve never seen anything that one sided. And this is not just coming from die hard Syracuse fans, this is coming from someone who actually refs lacrosse and someone who is really knowledgeable about Lax and doesn’t care too much about SU.
We saw SU players get hit in the head right in front of us with the refs right there. SU players got blatantly hit in the back with no call. Hell, they missed when Army had 7 men on the offensive side! Absolutely insane.

Refs were terrible.
I’m glad you called them a##holes at least 30 times. LOL

Who's doing the uniform tracker this season?
Orange helmets, white jerseys, orange shorts.
Yep I'll be doing it again
I like this combo.. it makes a relatively boring uniform set more interesting and pops off more. I’ll post updates on the uniform tracker every 4 or so games, so be on the lookout after St. John’s for one
As for the game, reffing was awful, lots of dumb mistakes that need to be fixed (especially with ball control), but all in all a win’s a win. The faceoff X is looking like an area of vast improvement, though, and we’re doing a nice job of winning them
