OK, so I've spent the last few weeks planning how I'd see Syracuse in the NCAA Tourney. I found out yesterday I could get my hands on some face value tickets to Boston - my parents live in Ma., so I can stay with them, and it's really a perfect situation.
Then at work today, I was offered the chance to go to the Philippines from March 18-31, to train Manilla residents to help our business development (kind of a call center). They're going to give me some stock options if I go, which vest yearly over a four-year period, which could turn into a pretty decent sum of money, but it's all potential money. Nothing upfront.
I have to give them an answer by 1 p.m. on Friday. Obviously, the timing couldn't be much worse for a SU basketball fan, which is why I'm asking for help from you guys.
This Syracuse team is special. I've felt that way for most of the year. And I could get to see them play in the sweet 16 and god-willing the elite 8 in person. If we somehow made it farther than that, I would strongly consider going to the Final Four in New Orleans, and have already started putting some money away, but that's obviously a big IF.
On the flip side, this is a great opportunity for me to see a part of the world I've never seen. This is probably the only chance I'll get to travel somewhere like this for free (and get paid to do it). The money is also a factor. I'm not desperate for cash, but it could be decent chunk of change for just two weeks of work. But then again, with stock options, that's another big IF to deal with.
So what do you think Syracuse fans? Would you go if you were me? Or is this Syracuse team so good that I'll regret missing the chance to see them in person on a potential historic run? Basically I'm 50/50 on this thing, so any advice or discussion will probably help me.
